Enhanced oil recovery through synergy of the interfacial mechanisms by low salinity water alternating carbon dioxide injection

چکیده

During this study, a comprehensive investigation of low salinity water alternating CO2 injection was performed for enhanced oil recovery in oil-wet carbonate reservoirs. A synergy interfacial mechanisms such as IFT, wettability alteration, solubility, swelling, shielding effect, and rock dissolution considered two three-phase systems. Results showed that the monovalent ions, NaCl or KCl, inhibit carbon dioxide brine excess divalent salt solutions, e.g. CaCl2 MgCl2 due to salting-out effect. In addition, more effect observed formation than it seawater. The significant change reservoir oil/brine/CO2 system compared oil/brine referred solubility which could cause stronger carbonated reservoir. Consequently, overpowers late-production problem occurred commonly conventional WAG injection.

An Experimental Study of CO2-low Salinity Water Alternating Gas Injection in Sandstone Heavy Oil Reservoirs

Several studies have shown that oil recovery significantly increased by low salinity water flooding (LSWF) in sandstones. However, mechanism of oil recovery improvement is still controversial. CO2 that develops buffer in presence of water is expected as a deterrent factor in LSWF efficiency based on mechanism of IFT reduction due to pH uprising. No bright evidence in literature suppo...

An Experimental Study of Surfactant Alternating CO2 Injection for Enhanced Oil Recovery of Carbonated Reservoir

Core flooding experiments were conducted with the objective of evaluating near miscible surfactant alternating CO2 injection and the effect of surfactant concentrations on gas-oil and water displacements in porous media. The core samples were provided from a low permeability mixed wet oil reservoir at 156 °F and 1900 psia. In addition, very few studies of surfactant adsorption on car...

CORE FLOOD STUDIES TO EVALUATE EFFICIENCY OF OIL RECOVERY BY LOW SALINITY WATER FLOODING AS A SECONDARY RECOVERY PROCESS

Various researches on laboratory and field scale illustrate that manipulating the ionic composition and the ion concentration of injected water can affect the efficiency of water flooding and the interaction of injected water with rock and other fluids present in porous media. The objectives of this paper are to investigate parameters that affect low salinity water flooding; mainly the effect o...
